Anne-Marie James-Henry, LGMFT

Licensed Graduate Marriage & Family Therapist

Greetings! I’m Anne Marie. I specialize in helping couples, families, and individuals successfully navigate life transitions such as engagement, marriage, separation, divorce, career changes, job loss, grief, migration, and military deployment. I’m also passionate about helping clients through depression, anxiety, struggles with their faith, and sex and intimacy issues. If you are an individual, couple, or family who needs guidance in any of these areas then I’m your person.

With over 20 years of experience in providing behavioral and life skills coaching, crisis counseling, and pastoral counseling, I’m equipped to help you tackle your concerns with a holistic approach. I understand that both young and mature adults need to receive concrete coping and relationship skills in a safe and supportive environment. As your therapist, I will provide you with a range of skills that will help you successfully transition out of your current

individual and relationship challenges and into a healthier space. I use a wide range of clinical techniques to help you reach your goals, such as:

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is a form of short-term therapy that is rooted in attachment theory. It aims to improve a couple’s relationship by rekindling the physical and emotional bond that can get severed for many reasons. Restoration of the emotional connection enables partners to be physically and mentally open and responsive to each other so that they can build a mutually supportive and satisfying relationship in the moment and for the future. Once that connection is restored, it becomes a continuous source of mutual comfort and a buffer against life’s many stressors. Couples are equipped to go on to solve their own problems with the skills they learn from EFT.

Bowen Family Therapy
Bowen Family Systems Therapy is a type of therapy that is designed to decrease tension and anxiety in families by addressing individual needs within the context of a family setting. Bowen's theory highlights how behavior patterns, emotional reactivity, and relationship dynamics are passed down through generations. By recognizing and understanding these patterns, individuals can break free from unhealthy cycles and create healthier relationship dynamics for themselves and future generations.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a branch of talk therapy that can help people of all ages, including younger children and teens. Your child doesn’t need to have a diagnosed mental health condition to benefit from this form of therapy. CBT focuses on how thoughts and emotions affect behavior. Through the use of this model, I help young clients learn to replace their negative thought patterns with more productive ones. Through different methods, they practice alternate ways of handling stressful situations. CBT can help young people control their impulses, eliminate self-defeating thoughts, and gain more self-control and healthy coping skills.

Clients find me warm, wise, and calm when it matters most.
